Another Quality Service Project in East Portland- Save hundreds of dollars!!

Our customer in Portland, OR had a vintage sink with a slow leak and wanted to save the fixture. The sink sat very close to the wall and was installed back to back with the kitchen sink, which made access extremely tight. The homeowner knew a proper repair would likely require removing the kitchen sink, and that could have damaged or destroyed the vintage fixture they wanted to keep.

Because of those constraints, Mick's Plumbing came to the rescue with a creative design that avoided removing the kitchen sink. After inspecting the situation, the team determined the most practical option was to create a discreet downspout-style pipe to carry the leak away from the vintage sink and safely into the basement laundry sink. This approach preserved the existing fixture and avoided a risky, costly sink removal.

The solution was simple in concept but thoughtful in execution. The new pipe was routed so it looked unobtrusive next to the vintage sink, and it tied into the basement laundry sink where the water could be handled without impacting the kitchen plumbing. The homeowner was very happy with this out of the box thinking, because it allowed them to keep the sink they loved while stopping the slow leak.

Mick's Plumbing is sharing this project story from Portland, OR to show how creative plumbing work can protect a homeowner's investment and prevent unnecessary replacement. Instead of removing and possibly destroying the kitchen sink, the downspout option saved the homeowner time and expense. In this case the customer avoided hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in potential replacement and repair costs.

The result was a practical, low-impact repair that handled the leak and kept the vintage sink in service. The discreet pipe blended into the area, so the appearance of the kitchen remained pleasant while the leak was resolved. The homeowner appreciated the thoughtful design and the clear savings that came from choosing a less invasive repair.

If you have a vintage or hard-to-access fixture in Portland, OR and are worried about invasive repairs, this project shows that there are sometimes alternative plumbing solutions. Mick's Plumbing delivered a creative downspout solution here, and Mick's Plumbing is glad to share how a careful inspection and a tailored plan can protect a treasured fixture while fixing a leak effectively.
